Dear NCA Family,
I pray that all of you are safe and have escaped this massive storm without any bodily harm. Those of you who have sustained damage to personal property, please let us know so that we may better understand your situation, particularly how it may affect your child’s education moving forward. Additionally, we would like to help direct whatever resources we have available to assisting you in the recovery process.
I was able to do a brief survey of the school property early yesterday morning and, at first glance, there is no major structural damage to the building. We have several trees down in the parking lot and over the playground area. In addition, there is some minor water damage in three of the classrooms that were surveyed. We are still without power, however, we have notified FPL through their normal channels of our status. Our maintenance staff is on site today conducting a more thorough inspection of the property to pinpoint any additional areas of concern.
As you know, our goal is first and foremost the safety of all our constituents (students, teachers, and parents) and anyone who comes on site. Therefore, we want to give our maintenance and custodial staff ample time to prepare the facility to resume normal operations. In addition, we want to give our teachers time to adjust their lesson plans accordingly and reorient their classrooms to be ready to teach the students once school resumes.
Therefore, we have determined, with all factors considered, that School Will Resume on Monday, September 18, 2017.
